DECTV Is a Black-Owned Live Streaming Network — And Has Been for 34 Years

When people ask what DECTV is, the answer is straightforward: DECTV — Digital Entertainment Club TV — is a Black-owned live streaming network. We stream hip hop, R&B, urban music videos, independent film, and live events to a global audience. We have been doing it since 1992.

That is 34 years of Black-owned, Black-operated, Black-focused entertainment — long before streaming was a household word.

DECTV stands for Digital Entertainment Club TV. It is an award-winning African American live streaming network available at DECTV.TV. The network streams:

• Live hip hop and R&B events — including pay-per-view concerts and exclusive performances
• Urban music videos — independent artists and established names, 24/7
• Independent film — Black and urban cinema streaming exclusively on the platform
• Original TV shows — including Hood Kitchen, a DECTV original cooking and culture series
• The DECTV 24-Hour Channel — a continuous live stream of urban entertainment around the clock
• News and culture — covering the stories that matter to African American audiences

DECTV was founded in 1992 — making it one of the longest-running Black-owned digital entertainment networks in existence. While major media companies were still figuring out what the internet meant for television, DECTV was already building the infrastructure for Black-owned streaming.

Over 34 years, the network has:

• Won 9 industry awards including Billboard, W3, Telly, Davey, and People's Telly honors
• Built a global audience across the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond
• Launched original programming celebrating Black culture, music, and storytelling
• Pioneered live stream pay-per-view events for urban entertainment audiences

The Billboard Award win in 2002 was a landmark moment — recognition from the music industry's most prestigious publication that DECTV was doing something that mattered.

There is a difference between a platform that carries Black content and a platform that is Black-owned. When the ownership is Black, the editorial decisions are Black. The revenue stays in the community. The artists get a fair deal. The stories told are the ones the community actually wants to tell.

DECTV has always operated from that principle. Every show, every music video, every live event on this platform is chosen because it reflects and serves African American culture — not because an algorithm decided it would perform well with a demographic.
